Vitamin D2-d3 is the trideuterated form of ergocalciferol, the plant-derived form of vitamin D, and serves as an isotopically labelled standard for the determination of vitamin D2 in foods, supplements and biological matrices. Adding a known amount of the labelled compound before sample preparation enables isotope dilution quantification, compensating for extraction losses and matrix effects that commonly affect sterol analysis.
