Ochratoxin A

Ochratoxin A is a mycotoxin produced by several Aspergillus and Penicillium species and is one of the fungal contaminants encountered in cereals, coffee, grapes and other agricultural commodities. The compound, C20H18ClNO6 with a molecular weight of 403.81, is a white to light brown solid and is supplied as a high-purity analytical reference standard rather than a bulk chemical. Food and feed laboratories rely on it to prepare calibration curves, to verify recovery and to confirm identity in LC-MS/MS or HPLC-fluorescence determination of ochratoxin residues. Because it is a toxic natural product, working solutions are normally prepared in small volumes and handled under containment. Storage at -20 C +/- 5 C is indicated and shipments are sent with ice packs. Listed pack sizes range from 1 mg to 150 mg, with a 5 mL presentation also available. A quotation and safety documentation can be requested through the form on this page.
